Cefas transformation programme

'Cefas is a key strategic scientific asset and partner of the Department and it is precisely for this reason that Defra has embarked upon a programme of transformation to secure the long-term sustainability of the organisation [Cefas] for the benefit of its customers, staff and the organisation itself.

'Whilst taking a long-term approach to funding is an essential part of this plan, we also need to address the issues of Cefas' ageing estate and increasing costs. As such an essential part of the solution will be the relocation of Cefas activities out of the existing facility in Lowestoft to the new, fit for purpose Waveney Campus site in Lowestoft.'
